Professors Zrnić and Mišković Presented the ACE Erasmus+ Project to the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
Belgrade, June 2025 — Professors Nenad Zrnić and Žarko Mišković from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of elgrade, formally introduced the Dean, Prof. Vladimir Popović, to their involvement in the ACE Erasmus+ project (Alliance for Community Engagement in European Higher Education), co-funded by the European Union, a forward-looking European initiative aimed at transforming the role of higher education institutions through strengthened community engagement.
The ACE project (full title: Accelerating Community Engagement in Higher Education) officially began on October 1, 2024, and will run through September 30, 2027. With universities across Europe participating, the project serves as a catalyst for meaningful change by establishing a peer-to-peer learning alliance that empowers academic staff to elevate community engagement into a more strategic and impactful dimension. During the meeting, Prof. Zrnić and Prof. Mišković outlined the project’s core objectives and its significance for both the Faculty and the broader academic community. They emphasized that
ACE seeks to reshape higher education systems by expanding their engagement with local and regional communities and by enhancing the societal impact of academic work. The initiative aims to strengthen the role of higher education institutions (HEIs) in addressing pressing societal challenges and to foster a more inclusive, responsive, and interconnected educational ecosystem
across Europe.
Dean Popović expressed strong support for the project, recognizing its alignment with the Faculty’s commitment to innovation, societal responsibility, and international cooperation. He also underlined the importance of active participation in European research and development programs such as Erasmus+, noting their potential to enhance institutional capacity and visibility
on a global scale.
The engagement of professors Zrnić and Mišković in the ACE project reflects the Faculty’s
ongoing efforts to integrate research, teaching, and community service, and positions the
University of Belgrade as a valuable contributor to the evolving landscape of European higher
education.
